Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the posters of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have flooded some parts of the ancient city of Kano.

The posters of the incumbent governor were seen with the logo of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the inscription “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027.”

The posters could be seen around strategic locations, such as the roundabout leading to Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), the popular Wappa near the former popular Triumph newspaper, and the popular Dangi bridge in the ancient city of Kano.

A youth group has taken responsibility for the poster, which was tagged “Courtesy of Nigeria Youths Awareness Group Makinde 2027 (NYAG Makinde 2027).”

Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the NYAG Makinde 2027, Lawal Abdullahi, while addressing newsmen in Kano, said, “Going by the political permutations of the 2027 presidential election, only the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, can move Nigeria forward. Hence, all patriotic lovers of democracy need to rally around him, irrespective of political affiliations, to get the nod.

“We have keenly followed his achievements in Oyo State and discovered that he is a focused administrator, someone who is committed to making lives better. He is the kind of leader we need now in Nigeria.

“We have met as different groups and have agreed to have a common front for the Seyi Makinde for President 2027. We are a moving train, and no stopping us until we achieve our objective of a Seyi Makinde presidency.

“We have consulted with prominent politicians and eminent personalities across the country, and we have their support. The Seyi Makinde 2027 project is a massive movement that will catch and spread like wildfire.

“We have concluded all necessary arrangements. The posters, billboards, handbills and other branded products are ready. By next week, in-sha Allah, they will flood the entire Northern Nigeria.

“Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Borno, Yobe, Gombe will explode for Seyi Makinde next week. Other states will follow subsequently. Our movement will takeover Northern Nigeria for Seyi Makinde after which the Southern Nigeria will be visited,” he said.

Recall that Makinde sometimes reacted to rumours that he would declare his presidential ambition when the time came. He said he would push his agenda when the time came and that nobody could push his agenda.

The development is sparking speculation about his potential candidature.
