…Back Trump, criticise church leaders for silence

?Renew call for Nnamdi Kanu?s release

By Steve Oko

The Igbo Women Assembly (IWA) has declared that anyone dismissing claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria ?must be an accomplice,? insisting that the killings across several regions of the country are well-documented and deliberate.

In a statement signed by its President, Lolo Nneka Chimezie, the group commended former U.S. President Donald Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over what he described as systematic Christian persecution. IWA also expressed support for Trump?s warning of potential military action against the perpetrators of the attacks.

According to the group, Trump?s remarks have forced the Nigerian Government to acknowledge atrocities that it had previously ignored.

?We appreciate President Donald Trump for drawing global attention to the killing of Christians and indigenous Nigerians. Anybody denying genocidal killings in this country must be an accomplice,? the statement read.

?Government maintained criminal silence?

The group accused the Federal Government of deliberately downplaying attacks carried out by jihadists ?disguising as herders,? until Trump?s comments reignited global scrutiny.

IWA lamented that the killings receive little coverage in international media, while local attempts to raise alarm are often dismissed as separatist agitation.

?Mainstream global media rarely report these atrocities. Here, when we speak out, they tag us separatists and call the attacks herder-farmer clashes.?

The group described it as shameful that it took a foreign leader?s statement for Nigerian authorities to address the issue.

?If not for Trump, these killings would have continued unchecked while politicians distract us with talks about 2027.?

?Evidence of genocide is overwhelming?

IWA insisted that casualty figures and destruction of predominantly Christian communities in Plateau, Benue, Southern Kaduna and other states clearly point to targeted religious violence.

The group challenged critics to compare the destruction of church buildings with mosques destroyed, saying the disparity is telling.

?People are being slaughtered like animals. Even cows are killed with some respect. These murderers cut human beings like grass while government responds with propaganda.?

Accuses government of complicity

The women faulted the government for reacting defensively to Trump?s threat to go after the killers ? the same killers who authorities once described as foreign herders.

?If they are truly foreigners, why fear when another foreigner (the U.S.) wants to confront them??

IWA added that individuals resisting U.S. intervention should be placed on a watchlist, warning that they may have ties to the terrorists.

Questions Nigeria?s silence on Christian killings

The group condemned what it called government hypocrisy ? supporting Palestinians abroad while ignoring atrocities against Christians at home.

It also criticised Christian leaders who vocally opposed ex-President Goodluck Jonathan but are now ?silent? under the current administration.

?These were the same people who led a one-million-man march against Jonathan. Today, they preach only prayer and silence.?

IWA accused some Southwest Christian leaders of choosing ethnic loyalty over solidarity.

Renews call for Nnamdi Kanu?s release

The women reiterated their demand for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), saying he had repeatedly warned about the attacks by armed herders.

?Kanu committed no crime deserving his current ordeal. We appeal to President Trump to prevail on the Nigerian Government to release him.?

IWA maintained that no responsible nation treats the lives of its citizens lightly and urged the government to prioritise security over politics.
